Sandi, your screen house looks great.

I have used the bug lanterns, one on either side while weeding and they work great, can get a little pricey for the refills.

Linda, sorry about your leg pain, hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks, Margaret. I took it down last evening. We came home to dark clouds and sprinkles. I'm happy to report we are having a bit of rain today and possibly tomorrow!

Those work if you're sitting or standing near them...and they're pretty! If you want to have people walking around your garden without being carried away by mosquitoes, Cutter's yard spray is the best thing I've used. I spray it down toward the ground under the shrubs early in the day. That evening, the mosquitoes are gone. This lasts for three weeks if there's no rain or heavy sprinkling. I have a lot of vegetation that I don't want to discolor with bug spray. That's why I spray it toward the ground. Some plants are more sensitive, so may have spray spots, but they are better than getting eaten alive! Just my two cents worth!

Bumping this up, since mosquito season is right around the corner.

There was a time, because of my body chemistry, that I could sit in a crowded area full of mosquitoes and be the only one not getting bitten. People hated me....

Yes, it's hell to get old(er)...

Now, I seem to be the ONLY one in the crowd getting eaten alive...

Much as I hate it, I have to use Deep Woods Off to keep myself sane when I'm outside. The tiniest of the mosquitoes hit me constantly. I don't even see them, but, little by little, I can feel the stinging, itching creeping up. If I'm not covered from head to feet with the Off, and try to stay out there until I can't bear it anymore, by the time I'm inside, my adrenalin is racing, and I'm in tears...

But, to make wearing the Off more bearable, I use it in conjunction with Avon's Skin So Soft. Joke was, time ago, that it was a secret mosquito repellent, anyways, LOL!

I pour some of the oily SSS in my palm, then lightly spray the Off in my palm, mix them together and rub it ALL OVER every exposed part of my body, including my face, behind my ears, and around my hairline. The mosquitoes will attack any place on my body that is not protected with my repellent. I had to start doing my entire face because they would land underneath my eyeglasses...

Only thing I hate is the smell of the SSS, and, because it's oil-based, it tends to make me hotter because I don't transpire (perspire) normally, and it covers my already inactive pores. But, it does the job, beautifully, while I'm out there for the whole day.

Oh. And, because I only mix a little of each and spread it on as thinly as I can, it actually "SAVES YOU MONEY!!"

I tip my hat to you.

A few years ago my DH and I were at a home improvement store that was giving a presentation concerning mosquito repellents. The young lady making the presentation recommended the Off Clip-ons. We decided to try them and I have to say they work! We are still using the same ones we bought that day-just replace the batteries and refills occasionally. Thought it was interesting that she also pointed out the products they sold that didn't work Smiling
