Here's some iris. Some of these didn't bloom last year after the move, so it was nice to see them bloom again. This was earlier this month, and the iris show is pretty much over for the year.

Next up for blooming seems likely to be the daylilies. I've got quite a few budded out, ready to pop. A couple had their labels knocked out when they were in my holding area, and I can't fix them until they bloom. The foliage pretty much looks all the same.

I hate the darn missing label game. Or, worse, mislabled plants. I have a bunch of iris that got completely confused - at least all of them ended up in one spot.

One way I dealt with missing labels was to write the name on a piece of plastic flagging and tucking that under the root ball when I planted them. Saved my bacon many times.

About 10% of my daylilies are sending up scapes! I'm looking forward to seeing them cause it's been two years since I last saw them bloom.

*sigh*
Isn't it always that time? I currently have half of my main bed taken up by strawberries - prolific little buggers. Those get moved in fall. And the irises that turned out to be the wrong color. Those get moved.

And the clover.... well....

Your butterfly bush wouldn't happen to be Silver Anniversary, would it? I just got two from Bluestone.

It's not currently labelled (many labels were casualties of the move up here), so it's either a true NOID, or it might be one of the 'Griffin Blue' cuttings I rooted from a UGA Open House day a few years back. The foliage is a little greener/less silver than it appears in the photo. I was able to ID all my other butterfly bushes from their flowers, but this and another one haven't been resolved yet. The flowers on both unidentified buddleias are a medium blue/purple, similar to the flower color of Russian sage or catmint.

Gotcha. I had a beautiful dark purple - would that be Dark Knight (or perhaps there's others? - I'm not a Buddleia expert!) that got taken away in the construction, grrrr. I have one little slip that hasn't croaked yet.... I really hope it survives.

You're thinking of Black Knight, and I've got a huge one. You're welcome to cuttings. At my old place, I also had Adonis Blue, which I miss a lot.

Thanks, Red - we'll see if this one cutting survives - if not, I may take you up on that!

MIA greetings =)~ hope all are well. enjoying the blooms. I sure am.

I got newbie irises the year before last for just the shipping costs and those labels faded. I could probably go back thru DG mail and find the names...I'm ok with just watching them for now.

I'm gonna try to work on my cucumber trellis before its time to get ready to go to a wedding. (not mine, lol)
later, girls.

The calendar still says spring for a few more days, but the temperature says SUMMER in a big way. It's still over 90 degrees at 6PM!

My plants are going through a wilt/recovery cycle each day, looking floppy until I water some of the driest ones out of pity. Cool random fact: did you know that more plants are killed from overwatering during a drought than any other cause?

My main yard activities for the past couple weeks have been just weeding and watering. Tomorrow looks more promising since the kids don't have their various camps and I'll get a chance to garden in the morning instead of driving back and forth. If anything still looks decent out there, I'll snap a couple pictures.

.... whereas my main activity has been *avoiding* the yard.... this 90 degree (plus) weather for the past two weeks (and predicted for at least one more, if not 10) is just killing me. It's almost worse than winter.

I haven't done much in the way of gardening lately if you don't count all the 'pruning' I've been doing as I'm cutting branches to feed my goats!
It's been too hot to subject plants to the shock of transeferring them so I've let most things stay in the pots and bags they're in and satisfied myself with just keeping them watered.
Had our first really good soaking rain yesterday. Been almost two weeks since the last good one with everything in between just a light sprinkle that didn't go down deep.

My yard has gone from 'spring has sprung' to 'summer is here'. Our local weatherman has dared to utter the words 'could reach 100 by the end of the week'. 98 degrees for Sun and Mon both. I can't imagine what July and August will be like...

I have been keeping a little squirt bottle of water outside with me...but today the heat and humidity have had me wringing wet before I ever reached for the bottle. I have become addicted to 'learning to garden' and I have so much that I want to do...but it's just mini trips in the yard today.

the rain keeps me out of the yard....but its not that bad here. my kitchen window view garden is soooo pretty now. even thru the dirty window, haha.

the garden is a swamp in places. and since I had to replant 4 rows of beans, ive not been able to hoe or stick them! theyre almost wild at this point. the good thing is that we planted the bush beans at the edge of the garden so I was able to pick a couple quarts....but they are full of beans. ive had cucs, yellow crook neck and pitty pan squash for a few days...mmmmmm SO good.

but..my fun for the week has been stepping on a nest of something and getting stung 8 or 9 times. ..... a new washer. no one told me to turn the water off at the wall, so when I wanted to clean under the old one before the new one arrived, i showered me and the floor.
and then, if that wasnt enough, the AC went out so the next day they replaced a valve that made the freon leak. more freon. it was miserable.

our next family reunion is next saturday and I'm so looking forward to it. starts Friday night with an all night pig roast, Saturday they deep fry turkeys, and its just family and friends all day with a big fireworks thingy that night. everyone moves the lawn chairs to the yard. cross your fingers for good weather. and as always, i don't know what to take, lol. i was thinking of using a couple of boxes of cake mix to make cupcakes with diff frostings.
My next house will have no kitchen - just vending machines and a large trash can.
