I saw this at a nursery. Everything I have seen or read about this Hydrangea is that it starts out green and the turns white. This one is obviously not white. Any idea what it might be?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the plant is mislabeled, especially since it has a "hang on tag". The stock (Hydrangea aborescens) used for this plant does not have the genetic capability to change color. And from all I have read, white hydrangeas in general will not show color other than maybe a tinge of pink as the bloom ages.

http://www.hydrangeashydrangea... (H aborescens Annabelle was the precursor of Incrediball...Incrediball is supposed to have sturdier stems to keep flowers from drooping in the rain). On every site I looked at, the statement was made "Soil pH will not change color of the bloom"

Here is contact info for Monrovia....I would send them your pictures for confirmation.

I looked at Monrovia's site and it looks like Hydrangea 'Penny Mac'.

So, that would indicate the plant was mislabeled. Seriously since they aren't even the same species. I see that happening at my local nursery all the time. Folks will pull a tag to read and then just stick it back on a plant...any plant nearby. Also, since many plants are tagged manually at the grower's site and often while not in bloom, a stray one gets the wrong tag.

Glad you were able to figure out who the plant is.
