@gg5 TYVM!!!

@ge1836 Thanks for the 2 cents Hilarious! AND for sharing Dave's link w/ me!

@Cinta I think if I can rembr correctly I used blk (pure, no sand as I didn't know anything about Sedums @ that time, don't know much now either but... LOL) dirt.
Those Stardusts are beautiful, I've got some Stardust seeds I got on Ebay, I hpe they produce next spring when I try to start them again.
It was way too hot in July when I attempted to start them and my saran wrap cover didn't get ahead of the sun and they died. Sad

@caitlinsgarden TY for the advice! *Visualizing Sedums coming out of caitlinsgarden's ears.* Rolling on the floor laughing

@valleylynn
I did something today that was farfetched not to mention pretty goofy.
I was @ an all-day seminar @ the competition’s hospital/clinic across town.
A couple of us gals went out on the terrace/patio to enjoy the sunshine while on lunch break.
They have a nice garden w/ many varieties of plants and of course I noticed they had sedums.
Not sure what kind they were but the one that caught my eye and that I favored was a deep reddish color.
All of those poor, poor plants desperately needed watering and were so wilted; we have had no rain in a month or more.
This patio is on the 2nd floor and it’s set too high to water unless they do it w/ a very long hose, I didn’t see a faucet but there could have been one up there.
Anyhooch, on my way out I snagged one of the stems that had a nice sized bloom on it along w/ 6 lil’ bloometts.
When I got it home I cut the stem about 4-5 inches above the root, removed the bottom leaves and planted it.
Cut about 4 more inches off of the remaining stem and removed all of those leaves and shoved that into the ground.
Cut yet another piece off removed the leaves and planted that one as well.
Then I took the nice sized bloom that had the lil’ bloometts on it and snapped (pinched??) them off removed a few of the small leaves and planted the 6 lil’ bloometts buds, some in pots and some in the ground.
Then I took the bigger bloom and planted that in the ground.
*I didn’t really shove them, I gently placed them.*
Watered them all and now I will watch to see if any of them will produce anything.
Our nights are getting cooler they are in the low to mid 40s no 30’s yet so who knows.
Indeed quite the experiment of sorts that I will definitely reap benefits of IF any of them grow.
I’m going tall Sedum crazy!

Now I've got to get those 3 and the 2 Shopko Sedums transplanted b/4 winter.

"My experiment!"
Cuttings only no roots, perhaps they will get some, we shall see.
If they don't that's ok as it's just an experiment of sorts.
The pot in the foreground HAD 8 Sedum leaves in it, it is now down to only 2, the other 6 dried up and died during our hot July weather.
They are the leaves that I took off of the original 3 blooms that I potted on July 7th.
I thought I'd use this pot to see if this lil' gem will root as this particular pot contains 1/2 sand and 1/2 potting soil.
The other larger pots do not have a sand mixed in them and one is blk dirt only and not very much of it either, the other is just potting soil.
The root to the larger stem that I talked about in the above thread has been planted in the front yard along w/ the other pieces of the stems I cut up and planted.
It's going to be interesting to see if any of these survive. Glare
Dissecting stems and planting them 101. Rolling on the floor laughing

Good sign Shaw, healthy green leaves. Even if they die the end of growing season, they may have new roots and form the beginnings of new shoots over the winter. Hurray!

@ValleyLynn
They are still looking good so that makes me happy.
I am going to prbly just leave these in the pots over winter and transplant them next summer instead of doing it now.
I don't want to mess w/ the roots system and harm them.
I gave them all a bit of a lil' tug and they seem to be firmly stuck. <<<< lack of a better word, LOL.

That long stem that I hacked into 3 or 4 sections and planted... all are doing well and showing tiny signs of bud? growth.
Who'd a thunk that would happen. Whistling Angel

You are going to have so many wonderful new sedum plants come next spring. Hurray!
What a great sedum mommy you are. Group hug

They should do just fine in those pots over winter, this type of sedum are pretty cold tolerant. It will be so much fun to see the little leaves push up from the dirt when they start coming out of dormancy. Lovey dubby

@ValleyLynn
I ended up planting most of them as I cleared both of the areas on each side of the backside of the house.
*That was as clear as mud.*
I treated the one side for slugs (and hopefully more) which was not the side where I planted the Sedums.
They actually are still looking half way decent.
When I go out to check on them after work I gently shake the flower tops to give the seeds a bit of a boost in planting themselves, hopefully I'll see some success next summer from doing this.

@gg5
IE: my avatar:
A friend of mine emailed that pic to me, she stated that she'd found/gotten it on the net and that it was in MI.
After I read your post I Googled "Pictured Rocks" and found the exact same image.
I hope it's not copyrighted or I am in BIG trouble.
It's probably time to change my avatar soon anyway.
It is indeed a beautiful photo, I love it.
