The term ”flaked” was assigned by the Japanese for the striped patterns seen in Ipomoea purpurea flowers. The term ”blizzard” is assigned for similar patterns in Ipomoea nil flowers.

It happens in a flash, but the memory of it last forever. It can not be borrowed or stolen, and it is of no earthly good until it is given away. So if in your hurry you meet someone who is too weary to smile, leave him one of yours, for no one needs a smile quite as much as he who has none to give...

A volunteer from last year's planting. I love the pink throat on the blue flaked.

So pretty woofie! I love the way they come back every year, sometimes the same, often a little different.

That is a nice one, Woofie! The blue on white is a great color combination.

Always fun to see this one, Woofie - it's the only one to ever reach the top of our magnolia tree, bedecked with butterflies at the same time.

I was so glad to see them, too. The seeds I deliberately started didn't do too well, but I ended up with a lot of volunteers from seeds from last year's plants and this has always been one of my favorites.
