I have an 'easter cactus' that is still in the same tiny pot i bought it in.I have decided to dodge rain showers to get the plants re-potted that should have already been done in the spring. Our temp hasn't gotten higher than the mid-high 80's so far so i think it will be ok.
My question I have another one & know they don't like to completely dry out between watering,at least that's what i've found. But i'm not sure what soil to pot it in? The one i already have is in a terra cotta pot, that was a mistake.Between the pot soaking water out of the soil & the fast draining soil it's hard to keep it healthy in the winter.I was potting succulents with a fast draining soil with bark, rock & succulent soil.Should i leave the rock out of the mix for the 'easter cactus' or use regular MG potting soil??

Jojoe, you might also try posting this question of soil for your Easter cactus in the thread titled "Rhipsalis Plants" in Cactus/Tender Forum where somebody else is asking Rhipsalis question.

Bev,I hope you have been good! Really have missed everyone especially your sense of humor.Yall always put me in a better mood! Group hug

I don't understand? I asked about an easter cactus not a rhipsalis.I thought cactus & tender succulents would be the right place for my easter cactus questions.Which thread are you talking about.Thumb of 2013-07-07/jojoe/34b8da

One of my Rhipsalis the 'sulcata' did bloom for the first time this summer Hurray! but with all the rain the blooms last about half the day then turned to mush. Crying

Bev, last night there was 2 tree frogs eating bugs at the back door,i walked out onto the porch before bed & they scared me to death, with them black eyes popping out of their heads. All i could think was they were going to jump on me.I didn't have this problem until i started thinking about that old movie the birds only my version is ATTACK OF THE TREE FROGS. Rolling on the floor laughing

I don't devote any space to rocks in pots, but would encourage you to use the same well-draining mix you use with other succulents. In nature, EC would be growing on a tree limb, with only enough organic matter to make enough roots to hold on, an epiphyte. So it would appreciate drying often, so it can be watered often.
