Hi Dave, Welcome! and your avatar tells us of your other hobby besides plants?

Thanks you for sharing the pics; I especially like the first photo because it gives me more ideas of plants with just beautiful foliage. I'm not much of a flower person; I get rid of all my sempervivums that have flower bloom stalks right away, but don't tell the semp people. They have a thread just for semp blooms that is titled "Show us your bloomers". *Blush* Crying

Thanks Bev. Yes, I admit that fly fishing for trout is a passion for me. At times the passion is even greater than my passion for gardening.

Understandable, Dave, especially when the passion provides trout to stuff for dinner? Unless your plants...,wait, not one of your pictured plants looked like a vegetable... Whistling

I heard that Bev. I sure hope Greg doesn't see this thread. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
And maybe Dave does grow a few veggies?

That is a yummy looking fish Dave. Is it just catch and release?
I really love the tiny bench with the dog and little girl. So sweet.

Yes Lynn that is a wild rainbow trout from the Henry's Fork in Idaho. All my trout are catch and release. Much too beautiful to kill. The only veggies I grow are a few herbs and some tomatoes. Concerning the bench that is all my wife's doings. She loves her garden art or as I call it " homey stuff".

I thought so. There are some beautiful rivers and streams in Idaho.

The homey stuff is great, and I just noticed the fat little frog hiding in the ground cover. What is the vine growing up the tree?

That is some sort of indigenous trumpet vine. It gets the most beautiful rust and yellow flowers on it every spring. They are just about on every tree on our property. Some of those vines go up for 40 feet or more.

BTW I didn't mean to imply that I don't eat the occasional trout but after they get to a nice size like the one in the avatar they have overcome so many adversities that it seems a shame to kill them for dinner. Not to mention I am a long way from home and staying in a lodge. I do take and eat numerous small stream trout here in the Smokey Mountains.

Well Lynn much to my surprised this vine is blooming again on the hickory in the front yard. So as promised here are a few photos From the ATP database I bleive it to be Bignonia Capreolata, Cross Vine.

Oh Dave, that is absolutely lovely. What a wonderful vine to have. I can only imagine how beautiful it is growing up into the hickory tree.
Thank you so much for posting the photos.
