To make it just say "Posts"? That's not very intuitive.

I like the menu bar the way it is now, with special links added if the user wants them.
I think if we take off the personal info it becomes too generic Smiling

I have a context-sensitive request.

In the Plant Database, when adding data details, there can be a lot of scrolling up and down to find the "Preview" and "Save" buttons. I used to wish that all the lists of check-boxes and radio buttons could default to "minimized", to reduce the scrolling, but that might inconvenience more people than it helped.

However, if we could have context-sensitive "Preview" and "Save" buttons on the custom floating menu bar, the amount of scrolling needed would be much reduced.

(I happen to be adding data to several Lettuce entries, but 95% of what I'm editing are in two fields kind of buried inside pages of check-box lists. My interim solution was to put StickyNotes with arrows on the frame of my monitor, to show where to scroll to, in order to find the two fields of interest.)

Perhaps a low-value feature to add "some day" would be a button inside the "add data details" dialog to minimize or expand the longer check-box lists.

I know what you're saying Rick but we have to be really careful about piling too much stuff into that bar. Each new item added takes away valuable real estate that people might want to use for custom links.

Here's a tip that I do: when you're done with the databox editing, hit the Home key on your keyboard and it'll zoom you back to the top of the page, where the button is waiting for you. (The end key takes you to the bottom and that'll work fine, too.)

I definitely agree. There are some spots where multiple buttons use up lot of the menu bar, but those are useful buttons there.

I was thinking that the "add data details" dialog had room for those buttons. BUT, "Home" and "End" take care of my wish perfectly. So there is no need to add menu bar buttons.

Thanks again for the floating customizable menu bar! I use it many times per hour, and it saves a lot of scrolling and clicking.

I like this - BUT - I still have a problem with the other menu bar below the banner. Do we really need two bars that say 'Home'? I always have felt that one gets in the way of the banner. Can it shrink? be incorporated?

If memory serves me, we used to not have a "Home" on the grey bar but it was requested by a lot of people so I added it in. I agree that it's redundant and since we have the home icon in the blue bar, perhaps removing "Home" from the grey bar would be okay.

It doens't bother me to have it in 2 places. The grey bar doesn't bother me at all, even if it does cut off a little of the banner. It's just never really bothered me Shrug!

I find that the home button in the gray bar is much more convenient when I am at the top of any page. Clicking a button that requires less movement of the cursor (rather than getting to the top left corner) is a lot easier with the mouse, and doubly so for those that use a mouse pad.

The partially superimposed gray bar over the banner adds a more professional look. Think of how old school it would seem like if it was completely separate.
