We have a wonderful new member to ATP who tree-mailed me this morning regarding the database. Is there a tutorial available? Thank you Big Grin

I don't think there's a tutorial, but the plant admins are always happy to answer questions. You can ask the new member to contact me. I'll be glad to help.

That's a wonderful offer, zuzu. Smiling

I'll add also that the member can post here in this forum or the Plant Database forum and we'll be glad to help.

I do think that one day we should put together a full document of how the database works. There's a lot to see and do and I think a document might help people know what the design decisions are behind the database and how to get the most use out of it.

And it would help them avoid the errors we usually correct behind the scenes, such as initial capping all cultivar and common names and typing out "feet" and "inches" instead of using abbreviations. (Always looking out for myself and trying to save myself some time and energy! Hilarious! )

Thank you, Dave and Zuzu. I did let the new member know about "Site Talk" but forgot about "Plant Database" (not sure I was aware of it?? Smiling ). While I was able to explain1 item, there are some other open issues. I did tell them that I would do some research and get back to them so, to both of you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I think a tutorial or some type of documentation would be really helpful just due to its sheer size and breadth (it is a wonderful db!!!!!).

Zuzu, I am going to go ahead and tree-mail you - thanks!
