gemini_sage said:Here's a bulb I received from a bulb swap a few years ago, pretty sure it's Habranthus robustus. It has a similar habit to Zephranthes (although larger in stature), in the way they burst into bloom when watered after a dry period.

Not sure what these are. I had thought they were a species of Habranthus, but I haven't found a match in my searching.

Those are beautiful, I have been wanting some of those. They remind me of Crocus but they will bloom off and on all year or whenever it rains, right?

Does anyone have any new bulbs this summer? I discovered at least one of my Gladiolus is a Watsonia. That's pretty cool.

I tried some new ones this year, new to me that is. Galtonia, Bessera elegans, Oxalis regnellii 'Pot of Gold', Polianthes tuberosa- Mexican single, Triteleia 'Queen Fabiola', and several varieties of Crocosmia and Achimines. Also trying my luck at some tuberous Begonias from the 'On Top' series, Calypso and Sunset. I've always loved tuberous begonias, but they tend to melt as soon as it gets hot and muggy, so I've avoided them for years. Brent and Becky's catalog says the few varieties they offer perform well in summer heat, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My Peruvian daffodil has not bloomed on the last two years. Maybe I should move it to a sunnier location. The redwood tree from the neighbor is shading out that area. Howuvj sun does yours get?

My Hymenocallis blooms more if I keep watering it everyday, really deep watering, though this year I only got 4 flower stalks out of the expected 9....am thinking due to this extreme drought, but just have to water it a lot especially here.

Crinum pics above are round 4 (4th blooming scape) this year (most I've ever got out of it). It's always a perfect subject for photographs. Same w/ the Peruvians (won a 1st place in pic contest over there).
