I guess the photos are shot specifically for a banner? Looks like it should be simple, and in fact, making it is pretty simple, it's getting the composition right!

I think a lot of times, people just work with photos they already have. Shrug!

I aimed for the densest part.

Yes, composition. If 1-2 more blooms had been in the same horizontal slice, it would be OK.

think outside the box, Rick... what about the buds instead of the blooms, etc?

Well, the first round of blooms faded recently. A few buds are left on a new stem, I might find a slice through them that had some detail.

Yes, as Mary said, I work with photos I have, after a while you can quickly recognize which ones may be good candidates, (blooms from the center and toward the right side since the ATP logo ends up on the left side, main subject in focus as much as possible). I also have to use the large unedited files instead of my cropped ones.

I use http://pixlr.com/express/ and the instructions that BookerC1 gave in the link Rick posted above.
