Timely Tip! in Removing Lily Pollen Stains

It's bound to happen. We are out in the garden enjoying our flowers, perhaps leaning in a bit to sniff the lilies or scrunching in closer for that perfect photograph. Later we find smears of lily pollen on our clothing.

I was out cutting lilies today and ended up covered in pollen. I was cutting my Anastasia lilies and they are so tall that I was having a hard time keeping them off of me!

I have no use for internet bullies!

As a former floral designer I can tell you that we removed every blasted one of those anthers as soon as the flowers were delivered!
And 'Thumbs Up' to you because I never knew the sun would help remove the stains from fabric...wonder if our local dry cleaner knows this trick?

I already knew about sunlight removing stains, but the tape trick is new to me. Thanks. Anyone who grows lilies will certainly appreciate this information.

gotta say though that my nose is usually what gets covered in pollen no matter what I sniff

Good to know. I can't really abide the smell of lilies in the house, and this reinforces my notion to just leave them in the yard.

I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Great tips! My daughter came in the house the other day with her nose (well half her face, really) bright yellow from lily pollen, and it didn't quite wear off in the tub!

I did bring in some White Henry's but by evening the scent was getting overbearing. So I moved the vase outside to the front porch and have kept it filled since with various lilies as they have bloomed. I sat the vase inside a larger flower pot so it would not tip over. A couple of days it was cool enough to open the windows and the scent of the lilies did come in but was not overbearing!
