Well, I had purposely made sure that I would have July 12+13 off of work so I could enter some of my lilies in the show....but that didn't happen. It turned out that Slovenia Day was the 12th, too, and I traveled 280 miles to attend with my sisters, whom I hardly see. I actually almost did both, but weather circumstances did not cooperate.

So, here are some pics
Arrangements are becoming very popular, and the quality, excellent.

These were done by a 7 year old !!! She didn't grow the flowers, but didn't have any help at all ! She got champion for the second one.
I took photos of her with the arrangements, but forgot to ask her Dad if I could post them on the internet. So unfortunately, you don't really get the full impact....

We had a Men's section this year, with a theme "Kryptonite". Two entries. The rocks through the glass spell out "Shame". I'm not exactly sure what that's all about. The blue rubber band around the bud inside matches the blue (painted) glad leaves.

These martagons are really as black as they seem. Sarcee has a darker banded edge on the petals. Two different people showed the same cultivar, and both had exactly the same coloring.

This shows lily breeding in progress. The hybridizer is trying for a pollenless white with maroon spots tango type lily. These are some of the results so far after 13 years. The different florets do not all have the same parentage.

The night before the show, it down poured steadily for almost an hour -- so hard that people driving on the freeway took refuge under the bridges. (I know because I was driving through it.) Many members that were planning to show had there entries-to-be destroyed. Still the show was over all very good, and better than last year, in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing pictures.
I am sorry the weather interfered with your showing of lilies.
The nice thing, about gardening, is that there is always next year.

Beautiful show lilies. And it always amazes me how wonderful the lilies at these show are presented. Love the 7 year old girl inspiration. The future of lilies right there. Very sweet, nicely done and creative! Thanks for the pics.
