I have limited room and many iris already but could not resist ordering a few more. I've ordered mainly SDBs and a few Tbs this year. I also have some nice ones coming from the Utah Iris Society as premiums/show prizes which I will mention later when I receive them.. My Mid-America order came last week and are planted in the garden. I order 7 of their 2013 SDB intros and didn't take their intro discount so the generously included 5 more SDB intros for a total of 12. They were very nice rhizomes. I ordered Captain Thunderbolt and Friendly Advice from Keith Keppel and he sent Cotillion Gown 2013 and Serena Louisa as bonuses........big rhizomes with increase showing I'm always pleased with his orders. I ordered 8 SDBs from Salmon Creek/Aitken including some Marky Smith intros and he included 3 of his intros with the order. I am pleased with the quality they sent. I need to do some planting this after noon....but its so darn hot. Grumbling .

I went way overboard this year Drooling ! But, I 've got a lot of new bed space to fill ! A lot of the iris I ordered are "test plants" for my "inherited" NOIDs, and a lot are one's from my mom's list of "lost "iris. I'm also adding a lot of medians, and a few are even new intros, which amazes even me, as normally I tend to wait till they've been out a few years. I have 2 orders coming that I don't even know the make-up of! They will all be surprises! They WILL be all historics, and , actually, one of the orders is a "baby-sitting" deal. I'll grow them till the fella' get's moved to a new place, and then send starts back to him. I received, and planted about 20 "for postage" iris today, and you are correct, Paul ! It's TERRIBLE hot out there Sticking tongue out !....Arlyn

Enjoys or suffers cold winters
3 orders are here--not all are planted because of the heat. Just a few plants each order, mainly SDBs. Much smaller than before, can't really do it any more. plus I do have seedlings to move. too hot in the 90s to do anything.

They really look good Paul, Almost as big as TB's rhizomes! Are you looking to use them to cross with as well as showing?

Tom...I may make some crosses next year. My order from Salmon Creek/Aitkins was very nice. It is the first time i have ordered from them and would do it again. I ordered 8 SDBs here....Celilo, Cornino, Blend of Blue, Fairy Ring, Force Field, Death By Chocolate, Quarter Moon, Purple Zinger, and Bumpkin. They sent 3 bonuses, all intros.......Cosmonuat, Lime Pixie, and Cinnamon Candy. I didn't have the area ready for these yet so I potted them up and will plant them out in a couple of months when the roots are well developed.

No -- I didn't, Arlyn. Sad I couldn't work up a worthwhile order with them, then ended up ordering a few from Dee (who doesn't have Masai Warrior) instead. I got a couple boxes of rhizomes from an internet friend, so have many new Irises to plant without ordering any at all. I've just got to stop adding new ones until I have that fenceline bed finished. And that's a long-term project!!!!

Well Mary Ann, you can just order one variety you know! If it's one you really like, and you don't see anything else you want from them. Maybe get 3 or 4 of the same one and have instant clump Rolling on the floor laughing Some one I know did that with Nebraska Big Red, when he couldn't find it anywhere else that he was ordering from. I won't mention any names Whistling

Paul, I'll be waiting for those seedling pictures in the future!

Yah -- but when you order just one, postage doubles the price. Things like that bug me. I like to order four or five and that way postage only raises the per rhizome cost a couple of dollars.

Wierd, I know...................... Shrug!
