Who says there is no such thing as cow language?

Much of the "joyous" behavior they are showing in this video is actually aggressive behavior between cows that have not yet established a pecking order.

Here's another one from You Tube that purports to show the same thing. Jumping for joy. What? These cows look almost sedated to me!

Anyhow. Im glad the permaculture cows got let out of the barn.

Calm, gentle cows is the way I like 'em. I'm never comfortable when they jump and kick and I don't think they are jumping for joy. But that's just me. There are people out there who let their toddlers run with their cows and I believe they are out of their mind.

Back home in Northern Michigan, it was always my job--with my collie dog, Dickie--, to go with the cows from the barn yard to the pasture. They really didn't need me--they knew where to go. I was probably 7 or 8 when I started that job. I also tried to ride the cows when they were in the barn. And that I wouldn't advise to anyone. Cows do not like to be ridden, and they wouldn't mind shaking you off and stomping on you.

My sister was even more adventurous than me. She not only rode the cows, she also rode the pigs!
