My Manfreda 'Macho Mocha' is never looking good, the leaves are all full of holes and spotted. Is this plant especially prone to this? Our summers here are very wet and I know not all succulents are happy with that, but the rest of the plants are doing well in the sandy, well drained area.

Any help much appreciated.

I have Manfreda maculosa, which is native here and some spotting on the leaves seems to be natural on it. I've noticed some holes on occasion...don't know what does that. Manfreda requires very good drainage, so too much rain could be a problem, I guess. I don't have that problem, as drought is more what happens around here.

I don't have M. maculosa but M. virginica and it is native here but is thriving in a raised bed under the eaves of the greenhouse. It receives virtually no moisture and is blooming right now.

The humidity is not an issue here yet we stay in the 80% to 90% humidity at all times in summer.
As a result, I would suspect it is the rain and perhaps some bug that thrives in that same climate.

Knowing you, Hetty, I'm assuming it has fabulous drainage? I don't think it would necessarily cause the problems you're having, but certainly make it weaker.
