Talking About Nasturtiums

By wildflowers
April 12, 2010

I have a personal fondness for this old-fashioned flower. Its delicate fragrance takes me back to when I was a young girl spending many hours in the garden. The taste of the sweet nectar from the spur of the nasturtium, the skipper butterflies fluttering around, and the ladybugs . . . I'm transported back in time.

Seed pack said to direct sow,
but I got a head-start planting in seed flats,
and transferring to 4 inch, and then 10 gallon pots outside.
No transplant shock. They are fast growers.

Those look great John! I wish mine were that big! I'm going to be doing the direct sow. Did you soak your seeds before planting?

My seeds took a week to germinate and had a slow start. Not as fast as green beans. If you start germination and it doesn't rain, take your chances...
