Companion Planting: A Reliable Option or Nonsense?

By wildflowers
August 29, 2010

So what about Companion Planting? Is it merely folk lore and old wives' tales without any scientific evidence to back it up? Or can you create a beautiful garden that flourishes in rhythm with the natural balance that mother earth has to offer (without the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals) by using companion planting practices? Maybe some traditions and folklore were created for a reason.

Hey!!!! GirlThat was a great article. Loved the old wives tales. Those folks knew what they were talking about.

thank you Charleen!

At one time, not too long ago people did have a closer connection to nature, I think. Maybe it's time to get back to basics.

We have farmers in the family that have been using chemicals and pesticides for years who are now looking at doing things more organically... it was a nice surprise!

It's wonderful!!! Ain't no tellin how many worms are eaten in juicy peaches raised on the farm. I love peaches. Apples too. But the flavor is great. You just don't think about the "Critters within" Rolling on the floor laughing

I especially don't like finding half a worm while eating a peach!! Blinking

I do enjoy folklore though... I wonder how hard it would be to find a pregnant woman to plant my garden?? Hilarious!

Me neither. Haven't done it in since to Ga. Not unless they were in some plums. I love Santa Rosa Plums. Had to get a new tree mule and longears ate other one. I got it on this side of the fence away from them.
