I had to giggle as i was listening to your recent podcast on hot-weather plants. My little girl and I grow sunflowers and often take them to our 4H fair because come late July, they are the most reliable and showey flowers in our garden (which i often forget to water). So I'm gonna call you out to recommend some sunflower cultivars that aren't pase'! lol! Thank you all for any suggestions!

You're right, sunflowers are indeed excellent hot weather plants. I can't believe I didn't think to mention them.

Check out our sunflowers database:
The Sunflowers Database

To name just a few recommendations, I like:

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Teddy Bear')
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Velvet Queen')
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Autumn Beauty')
central Illinois
