Dave, I don't have that one, it's a beauty. I found the cultural info in the Plant Files on the 'other forum' Dave's Garden. Unless you are already subscribed, it costs money for a subscription to see their info.

Mine is the more common Kaempferia 'Satin Checks' but the cultural needs are similar. They are VERY temperature sensitive little divas. Mine disappear underground at the first hint of cool nights, and never re-appear until the nights are warm again. If you wanted to keep it going through the winter, I would think it might take a terrarium like an old fish tank with a heat mat under it. I put thick mulch down on mine if the weather is cold here.

They make a lovely ground cover through the summer, though It spreads very slowly, unless I get ambitious and divide it. Mine is grown more for the pretty foliage than the flowers which pop up new each morning and are gone by noon .

Actually, anyone can get into DG Plant Files without a membership. I think you can view a certain number of plants per day. I'm no longer a member, but occasionally click the plant files to check on a plant or two. Thumbs up
