My garden mess....Brian chopped out a big log about 8" deep and 8" wide on the top so I could plant flowers in. It also serves to hold down the black plastic we lay for weed barrier.

Celeste your veggie garden looks wonderful!!!!!. Love your log planter. No fence and surrounded by wildlife? I'm in suburbia and had to erect 7 foot tall deer netting just to have a crop.

Look who I found last night on one of my potted pepper plants. I believe the white eggs on it are wasps. Thumb of 2013-07-30/BlackCat08/b4a944

From what I've read I should have left it alone. Those wasp eggs use the hornworm as there host and basically eat the hornworm. Having those wasps in the area is beneficial to rid the hornworms.

Some critter has decided that my grown from seed Black Krimm tomatoes are only good enough to claw at or eat half the tomato and leave the rest for me to find. No fun picking half eaten mato's. War is about to begin.

Oh, hurray a veggie thread for our Northeast Region. Thumbs up I am really into growing veggies this year. Like you Celeste, I have been picking cucumbers but not in such numbers! You sure are having a fantastic harvest of cucumbers.

I have been picking tomatoes and they are my favorite summer veggie. I just love a nice cucumber and tomato salad and a lovely tomato sandwich.

I also am growing zucchini and yellow summer squash for the first time ever this year. Have picked a lot of zucchini! Hilarious! Have had zucchini for lunch most days! Hilarious!

And I am growing eggplant for the first time ever also. After only ever eating the typical large fruited big purple eggplants that you commonly get in the supermarkets, I love the Asian Small fruited varieties I am growing which are all new to me.

I recently started my fall crop of snap peas and I see some just started pushing thru the soil this afternoon.

yes Lucy we have em.. I find the culprit usually is a chipmunk.. they usually put a bite in every large tomato .. last year I was ditching them in the woods all summer.. stopped growing big ones because of that.. no point if I never get any

Lots of good eats from the garden for me!

Tomatoes. Regular size ones and cherry and grapes types also.

Thumb of 2013-08-01/Newyorkrita/aa7628

A zucchini, 4 yellow summer squashes and an eggplant.

Here is my cucumber section. I call it Cucumber Ally! Hilarious! Actually it is in the main path that goes thru my backyard daylily bed. I needed space to plant my cucumbers and this was it.
Thumb of 2013-08-01/Newyorkrita/17317c

Besides cucumber ally for the first time ever this year, I decided to do a second or late planting of cucumbers. This way hoping for a continued supply of cukes after the ones in cucumber ally are done for. Cucumbers are never a long lived crop around here, the vines get really ratty looking late summer and need to be pulled up.

So I have Orient Express and Suyo Long cucumber seedlings planted that I had started myself from seed.
