I would love to see a propagation week here, similar to the Sempervivum Week, Lily Week, etc. People could do articles about how to propagate all their favorite plants.

Perhaps a Seed starting week, and a Propagation (not by seed) week.

One point I want to make: it's a LOT of legwork to get a "week" up and going. When we have members who get engaged in the process and help us by bringing together the writers and raffles, it goes very smoothly. But sometimes it's up to Trish to do it all herself and consequently it's not as strong. So, we'll want to have some people ready to be a part of one or both of these weeks we're thinking about.

I think there needs to be more notice for the weeks. I tried to write something for Perennial Week, but it was so sudden.

As I recall, the topics for the weeks were decided sometime in 2012. But I don't know at what point folks were asked for articles or whatever

Generally we only share the schedule with the forum moderators. We should give more notice, though, I agree.

We didn't publicly announce the Weeks this year because we wanted to keep it a surprise, and quite honestly- to avoid any other sites copying of our great ideas Green Grin!

For next year, I'd love to expand the number and types of Weeks, while at the same time scale back a bit on the intensity of the Weeks.

That's my hope...but it isn't as easy as it sounds. Like Dave said, when I have to put together the week, it can be very difficult to round up enough content to make for an interesting week.

I am happy to see all of the excitement over the weeks, and the requests to do more. That's very motivational for me!

There's your morning brain dump on the subject Green Grin!

I've sure enjoyed the weekly topics - introduced me to plants I might not have had any prior inclination for. I try to enter into each week with an open mind, even when featuring plants I normally shy away from. The recent lily week would be at the top of that list for me, still not particularly drawn to them, but wow what beauties I was exposed to, thanks to all who contributed. And thanks Trish for organizing the weeks. Kudos to all.

This is a good idea, but I think ATP members need to step up to help,
and not dump the work onto Trish.

I will be happy to write about propagating plumeria, if anyone is interested in something that specific.

Hetty, is the method for propagating plumeria able to be used with other species of plants? Because if it is, you could write the article as a "how to do this type of propagation" and use the plumeria as your example plant.

Hilarious! I understand that, but can someone use the methods you use to propagate plumeria to propagate something else? If so, it's a universal topic, not a narrow one. Thumbs up

I suppose they can but - since I don't really do it - I wouldn't know how much of my methods are applicable to other types of plants.

I think you should just do one on propagating plumeria, Hetty. Enough people are interested in that. Some people can write general articles about various propagation methods and others can write specific articles focusing on one type of plant.
