To keep algae growth down and your bird bath clean, add 1 capful of apple cider vinegar or 1 teaspoon per gallon of water to the bird bath. The apple cider vinegar also provides vitamins & minerals to the birds.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! to ATP Melonie!!!!!! And what a cute doggy in your avatar. Lovey dubby

I have no knowledge of this being used for dogs or if it's safe or not. All I can say is to not just change the water everyday but wash the bowl with soap & water each day when you change the water.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

I have two stainless steel bowls for our dog to use outside. I rotate them. Every evening I bring in the one that has been outdoors and put it in the dishwasher... and I take out the one that was just washed out of the dishwasher, fill it with fresh water, and place it outside. Our dog stays better hydrated when she always has fresh water because she is not reluctant to drink it.
