Hi Kickstart.

Your plant is the Dahlia cv Charlie Briggs , correct? Dahlia 'Charlie Briggs'

The ATP database for Dahlias currently does not have any pictures of this dahlia. Please consider adding pictures of both your plant and its' blooms.

This link shows what a lovely bloom it is.

It is a perennial, so it should return each year. The links below give info on care/growing Dahlias.

Welcome Kickstart. Yes, please do add photos to the database, and also post a pic when your Charlie blooms (looks like soon).

Welcome, Kickstart! That is a lovely dahlia, indeed! You don't mention what zone you're in, so you should be aware that dahlia tubers do not like to get frozen. I'm in zone 5 (or 6, depending on who you believe) and I have to dig mine up and store them every winter. Although I've also salvaged a few by just bring the pots indoors for the winter. (Those were the ones in fairly small pots that I'd grown from seed.)
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

I tip my hat to you. Thanks for that Woofie. I checked the profile info and meant to mention that, and got distracted in the process. I was going to ask if Kickstart was in the UK as so many listings for that dahlia were UK sites.
