J: That's a great shot of the very cool Sphinx Moth!

Butterfly activity seems to be picking up a little bit around here. Hurray! I was outside early this morning before it got too hot and got a few pictures.

Great pics Lin. I've yet to see a Sulphur or Monarch this year. By this time last year I recorded 14 different BF; in 2011, 17. Total this year, 5 or 6.

This was the largest black swallowtail butterfly! Not sure which one it is but it was a big as the Giant swallowtail in size. So pretty.

Your skipper reminds me of a Duskywing, not sure though.

First time this year seeing him. He was hanging on the door. Couldn't get a good shot from inside. When I opened the door, he was gone.
A moth of some type?
Wonder what it is?

Janice, that kind of looks like the underside of a Comma or Question Mark. I don't really get those in my area though so hopefully others will chime in.

Thanks Mellie. He really was orange and maybe the bottom was brown?

I was really surprised when I saw the color in the photo.
