While walking a new nature trail today I almost stepped on this guy. After moving myself to a respectable distance (very quickly) and lowering my heart rate, I was able to enjoy looking at it.

Well, the snake was probably about two feet long and I move back at least six feet. Which is considerably better than the eight inch that was between us when I first saw it.

At my house, a respectable distance would be two blocks away.

Well, we all know who has the right-of-way in situations like that! No signs required (I don't suppose they have snake crossing signs out?).

They can get fairly fat. Here's one I saw early this year. It's not nearly as heavy looking as the first one.

Sandi, thankfully we have no snakes of any kind here, it's too darn cold!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing There are snakes, including rattlers at the lower elevations, like around the Kamloops hills and the warmer more arid areas.
