Is it possible to purchase the Dianthus "Doris" here in the U.S.? We are having difficulty finding it outside the U.K.

I had Doris that I bought from Bluestone Perennials 4 or 5 years ago. I wanted to grow it because I thought it was lovely, and Doris was my mom's name and at that time, she had recently passed away. It only came back for a couple of years, I was never able to get any seeds from it to germinate, and the last two years there's been no signs of it. I'd love to try it again, if I could find it.

This is my Doris, from 2008.

Thank you. My sister passed away some years ago. We planted the iris "Immortal" by her headstone and it has flourished and multiplied- I now have several in my garden. My daughter was very close to her aunt and came across "Doris", and it reminded her of her aunt, so I thought I would try to help her find it. I appreciate your input!

This is a bit of a stretch, but this wholesale nursery shows Dianthus Doris in their catalog, although it's probably not available at this time of year.

You might try contacting them to see if there is a retailer in your area who can get them for you. Or click on the "Find Retailer" button on the left hand side of the page. They only do business there on the east coast, but they do supply retailers in MA.

I did e-mail Bluestone and got a quick replay back that they don't carry it anymore, I was hoping that maybe they had some, but not enough to include online. She suggested Thompson and Morgan, but I don't think they sell plants in the US.
