Hello everyone. I've recently bought a few tree peonies and am very happy about it, but is there something wrong with this first one? It is "Otomenomai" and awfully floppy. My other ones have stiff branches so I'm troubled by its limp habit.

And does this one have leaf blotch?

It looked healthy otherwise:

It looks just fine to me. I would just get it in the ground and be happy! Smiling

That's reassuring, Ticker. I won't be putting them in the ground this year, though, so I planted them in larger pots. I hope I don't fail them over winter!

What zone are you? You may want to put it in an unheated garage to protect it in it's pot. Me, I'd put it in the ground.

Unfortunately, I can't plant them as the beds won't be completed until next year. Zone 7-8.

What kind of winter do you get in Zone 8a? Smiling

The temperature range here is narrow. 30s-70s F throughout the year. Last winter it hovered around 0C, and didn't start warming up until May. Then we got two months of warmish weather starting in July with the occasional cold day until September.

We had frosts until spring, and the wind sometimes was powerful and freezing, but last year was my first winter here and I understood it to be mild. I'll see this year. I miss snow!

Yeah, if you can keep it in an unheated garage or sunporch it will do just fine for you. Smiling
