This Senecio has been resilient in my garden..though it does pout a bit during days of winter cold rains, but quickly returns vigor once it dries out and gets some warmth. I have let it sit on its container for awhile and growth seems sluggish, and I repotted it finally a couple of weeks ago. Now I understand better how it can survive our hot dry days..it has formed a nice caudex below soil line..a good water hoarder! Smiling

During repot, took some photos of the caudex..nice and firm..looks like ginger

That is cool, I don't know why I didn't notice this before. Got a little one of these a few months ago and love the almost-blue color of the leaves. I see some flower buds starting to form. I hope they are able to complete their mission, there's more rain in the future, as far as they weather eye can see. I had to rescue them from a spot where I thought they'd bake in the sun for summer, they kept getting drowned by rain. So it's not getting rained on anymore, but no sun!

Hope you can find a suitable dry spot Tiffany. My plant pouts big time when it gets rained on during winter, cold and wet. They do like the sun but I find not to much baking dry heat in my area...dappled sun seems best for it.

Thanks! I hope so too, the irony of having to rescue plants from the ground INTO pots to save them from 'overwatering' is not lost on me. Oh Mother Nature, you are hilarious.

Also caught 2 army worm caterpillars munching on this plant. And one on another kind of Senecio. If you have army worms in your area, you may want to inspect your Senecios for caterpillar poo, that's what gave away the ones I found. Relocated to lawn, I'm sure they were bird food soon.

Do you know how old your plant is?

In my care, this plant is about 4 years old..but it was a hand me down from my aunt.
