Last night at our Light Up the Town celebration, the Siberian Husky Club of CT had about a dozen of the huskies in front of our church......they were just lovely....said to one, "Hi, darling." She put her paws on my shoulders & gave me a kiss.......I would have brought her home in a minute!

I had made up my mind that when Harper started peeing in the house it would be time...she has peed just about every morning no matter what time I get up for the past two weeks. I started taking up her water after dinner but that doesn't always matter...I'm so afraid that come the first snow storm she won't be able to hold herself up then I'll be rushing her to the vet The hard part is she doesn't seem to be in any pain, eating, enjoying things as usual...just the peeing and pooping and occasional losing her balance.... I don't want to give up on her yet though

Always a difficult choice. You will know when the time comes.

It's a terrible decision.....the size of our wolfhound had me get her to the vet a day early....I knew we couldn't pick her up & carry her.....so hard with a large breed, but we love them dearly.....My airedale, Skip, put his head in my lap and looked at me so pitifully, I knew it was time.....I was hysterical all the way to the vet's, but he was accepting.

I'm reading your posts with tears in my eyes, still so fresh in my heart for me. You will make the right call. Just so hard, thinking of you in this heartbreaking time.

So sorry for everyone when you loose your dog. Always such a terrible sad thing and just heart wrenching.

So hard to decide.. you will know when it's time .. hugs for now

Spoke to my cousin today...he walks his lab at the state park where I sometimes walk Nicki....he said there was a terrible dog attack, sent the man to the hospital.....all dogs must be leashed there, huge signs are up. Anyway, he is now looking to buy a can of dog spray, & has told me I need to do the same. I always walk with a walking stick, but feel very vunerable hearing what happened.

That is simply terrible!!!

I always carry pepper spray. I hope I never need it.

That is one of my biggest fears with these small dogs

Nicki isn't small, but she's not a fighter...another dog could really hurt her......If the dog attack wasn't enough, some poor lady in Waterbury...our closest city, was on her deck....her little dog was in the yard, & a coyote took him....she chased the coyote, but couldn't catch him.....I would have had a heart attack, I'm sure!

My niece's dog was attacked last week...almost didn't make it...three drains in her neck, I have a picture but it's pretty gruesome. The vet said if the neighbor hadn't been there to break it up she would have been killed. They live on almost 5 acres and she felt safe letting her wander about.
