This Pink Desert Rose was raised by Rucky and given to me. But I am so excited to see the pods today.

Congrats! I can barely get flowers let alone seed pods this year. I also should have cut most of mine back and repotted them in the spring. I also aquired a couple of NOIDs from Lowes. I don't need more Whistling , but I couldn't resist the temptation, they were only $4. I grabbed 2 and my girlfriend grabbed the other 2. Now to feed these plants and coax them to bloom. Oh yeah, I've got to get them out of that peat or whatever it's growing in. We've been getting frequent rains here. I mean 2 or more storms a day and more at night. Right now we have a break, but I need it to rain tonight or tomorrow, because I can't get out to water. It's too hot and I've injured my leg. Oh well. Shrug!

What do you feed your adenium, Deborah? I am sort of new to this and since Rucky gave me some, I want to learn and do right by them. --- My DD lives in Goosecreek, SC and complains about the rain all the time. She says, "What good is a beach if it rains all the time?" Rolling on the floor laughing

I use Miracle Grow or Bloom Plus, something with a high middle number like 15-30-15. That's what the experts recommend. Am I right, guys?

Best is a ratio of 1-2-3, like 15-30-45. You probably will not find this! I buy Muriate of Potash, 0-0-60, and add some, guess work!! to the stuff like Vigoro.

You might need micro nutrients, look for Boron, Copper and Zinc. I haven't seen miracle grow with micros, yet.

Grown in peat, they have been under a greenhouse roof, so no rain, with highly controlled watering. One garden center here had their first lot of adeniums mostly die, rot, because the plants were outside on a table in the rain.

It's always good fun to find seed pods!! I spray my developing pods with a weak solution of fertilizer twice a week. Feed those guys.

I had a couple of seed pods. One was out front in my flower bed I was keeping an eye on it then it opened and all of the seeds blew away. I told all of my neighbors to keep on the lookout for little plants growing in there yards I did manage to salvage one pod but only a few seeds but they are longer than I have seen before these (the seeds themselves) are almost 3/4 of an inch I am going to have to try and start some just to see what the outcome is. I usually put a stocking over then seed pod when they look like they are close but I missed that one Confused

I am so glad you brought this up - I had forgotten I have two pods on my red one out back; I better go check when it stops raining!

Well, it seems I can't do anything right by my lovelies. The seed pod broke off or was broken off it's branch. sighhhh I am sure glad my pregnancies weren't like this! So disappointing!

Grumbling I have not seen any seed pods on any of mine this year so I'm jealous when every one else gets them. I'd be sad if I did get one and it broke off like yours.

If the seed pod fell off check and see if its starting to open and just set it somewhere dry it may still open I had one which that happened to and I still got seeds. Unless it was small then its probably a bust. Its not your fault sometimes they just don't make it I have lost a few over the years. Dlkodomy I have several seed pods I would be glad to send you some when they hatch. Do you keep your plants outside? I got several seed pods when I lived in Houston. Just from them being outside and i guess hummingbirds pollinated them for me or butterflies maybe.

Thanks, Rucky, but at the moment I'm having space issues with what seedlings I do have and then a few new purchases. Until I can get some sort of table or shelf thing built along my fence I don't have any space to start any more. Every thing is crowded on one small table and on my patio at the moment. LOL I guess there could be worse things than having space issues, right?

I have left the pods to their own on top of the dirt. They are like a fat green bean about 4" long is all. Not much hope but maybe....
