I just got off the phone and I have a blister from holding the phone for repair.

I have over an acre of land to mow so I have a riding mower. The mower broke last week. All I can say is never, never never buy the repair contracts. I hate them all but this one is with Lowes.

If it takes them this long to pick the mower up for repair I do not have faith that I will get the mower back before Fall. I am ready to go and buy a new mower. This is horrible. My borough fine you a $100 a day if your lawn is over 3" if someone turns you into the code enforcer. The enforcer does not ride around to see who has not mowed their lawn. I think all my neighbors like me. Rolling on the floor laughing

Cheryl, be careful with the blisters they can get infected in the heat. Group hug

woofie, the lawn guys scalp lawns around here. One day when I am too old to follow behind this self-propelled beauty with the key start, I will find someone else to use it. It mows perfectly!

Bev, If I wore gloves, I would get funny tan lines and that would be worse than the blister!

Cinta,Your borough would love me. I keep my lawn at or about 6" in the heat of summer to save water. HOA probably doesn't like that. But I do keep a nice knife edging to keep it looking sharp out there.

I don't grow a lawn for the simple reason that I hate mowing - and blisters.

Whenever my neighbors lawn weeds get 'too tall' and he risks getting a fine from the city, I quietly trot into his yard and pull out the tallest weeds (with my gloved hands, of course). He believes the work is being done by the good fairies of the garden world.

Take care of that blister.

Oh Mary that is funny.

Cheryl, how are your blisters?

My neighbors are cool they will not call and report me. But if they see someone that never keeps their lawn up they will run for the phone and tell on them. Rolling on the floor laughing

But really unless you come down my driveway you cannot see my property. The trees across the front block the view from the road. So I am safe. I got the lawn mower back yesterday. It took me an hour and half but it is done. I really need to do some more planting all this grass is just a waste of my garden time.

The blister sort of faded away. Yay for that because it's time to mow again! It was so hot today I only got the edging and blowing done before it hit 100 at noon. But the yard looks better all edged up. Plus, I beveled the grass about 1 foot in so it appears to be manicured. I put down a light coat of fertilizer a couple days ago. I may be planning my own lawn mowing funeral! Rolling on the floor laughing I only have the front yard to mow. And there is a large plant bed so it isn't all that big. But Sunday I mowed my neighbor's yard, too. Her's is not that big either but with her beds there is a lot of turning and curves. I blame the blister on HER yard! It's too much for my lily white hands. Rolling on the floor laughing

Oh good. Your hands healed just in time for a repeat performance?

You are truly special to do your neighbor's grass. Especially in Texas heat. I have a headband that you soak in water and it pumps up cooling crystals. I used it when I had to mow and it was in the 90s.

Where did you get the headband? I would be interested for when I'm gardening. Does the cooling effect last very long?

There are ground covers which do not need mowing.
There are also no mow lawn mixes which do not need as much mowing.
I am moving slowly to these.

Arlene try here and choose.

They are all about the same the more you pay the more reuse you will get. I have tried 3 of them. If it is hot 90s I keep 2 in the freezer and use those. It works for 3 hrs frozen. If it is in the 80s I use the fridge ones and get about an hour.

If you want to really try this idea cheap if you have some of those soil moisture crystal get a band from the dollar store and put some of the crystals in the band wet and freeze. It works good. Especially if you can find the terry cloth shower head bands.

Caroline, the weeds have almost choked a lot of my grass so when I do not mow or water it looks green I am letting the clover win. The rabbits and bees love it and they are leaving my plants alone.

We have this in our back yard, dwarf mondo grass. It is almost solid in one area (I just bought more to fill in the bare spots) and mized with flagstone in another larger area. I love it, green all year, never needs mowing. Why can't all lawns be like that?

The dwarf mondo works really good. I am also slowly enlarging the mondo bed. Also, I read a lot about people who hate ivy, but it does make a nice carpet of green and doesn't need mowing.

Ivy beds attract snakes in our neck of the woods. It doesn't freeze back in our mild winters and tends to take over. There's Jasmine-the ground cover that is nice and small, hedge-like eventually.
