My pleasure. That's about as "showy" as it gets, by the way.

I'm going to piggyback on Ginger's closed thread here. I have the same but not the same thing --- mine looks different -- the leaves, the stem --- mine is extremely hairy; both the stems & the upper & lower leaf surfaces. My leaves are far more toothed than anything I could find online or than Ginger's.
Kent, would you please take a look?

It appears to be Erechtites hieraciifolia, as well. In general, leaf shape is one of the least reliable characteristics to use for identifying a plant. Degree of hairiness can be a useful characteristic in some cases, but often isn't that reliable either. Wild species tend to show a lot of variation from one plant to another due to growing conditions, genetic variability, etc.

The flowers of Erechtites are quite distinctive and match the plant in your pictures extremely well. The leaf arrangement is correct for Erechtites. The leaves, and the general appearance of the plant itself, are at least within the range of what would be expected for Erechtites.

Thank you so much Kent. I tip my hat to you. And I appreciaie the info. on the variables in characteristics. The ones growing here are quite bushy compared to all I saw when researching & in truth, the plant is quite attractive to my eyes. You can imagine how I was anticipating the bloom. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing And then, and then....... what a disappointment. Hilarious! The foliage is still very attractive.
