Guess what? I planted my 12 new clematis today that I ordered from Silver Star Vinery. That is what made me come and join the Clematis Cubit. I figgured if I had 12 new clematis then I should join here. It just made me think of the cubit.

I got six large flowered ones-
The President
Asao
Bees Jubilee
Bourbon Euip018
Niobe
Ruutel

I also got six Viticellas-
Avant Garde
Etoile Violette
Kermesesina
Triternata
Venosa Violacea
Royal Velours

I only had about 5 clematis before this.

I used to have THE PRESIDENT years ago and love it. That stunning deep purple color. It died when I had some hardscape redone in my backyard. So now I Have it back.

I am really hopeless. I saw clematis at a local nursaery today and bought three of them. That in spite of the fact that I just planted 12 new ones yesterday. I bought MRS CHOLMONDELEY, NELLIE MOSER and WILL GOODWIN. The fist and last are shimmering light violet purple. Stunning. What I don't like about buying locally is that they never put the prunning group so I will have to look these all up.

I do agree with your comments on The President....it is truly stunning in person. The camera never really seems to capture the beauty of it. I too have Nelly Moser and she has always done well for me - even the first year I put her in. She is a beauty. The last three you purchased are a group 2. Enjoy!

My 2 from Silver Star, TWILIGHT and H F YOUNG arrived yesterday but it was too rainy to plant. So I planted them first thing this morning. Sure are going to have lots of clems around here.

I got my HF Young and Dr. Ruppel from Lowe's for $7.98 each, plus a military discount, so I'm doing the happy dance! I still need to order Guernsey Cream, Rebecca and Jackmanii, although now that I think of it, the last two may also be available at Lowe's. Hmm. Have to check that out.

Our local Lowes around here never has anything, It is not even worth going there to look at their plant department. You sure did well.

wow...I just planted HF young last spring....already she is up after being pruned to the ground this spring and she already has a few flower buds - she seems to be doing really well for me in zone 4 in Canada. Another one I planted last year was Blue Angel and she is already doing amazing well for a newbie in the garden!

I had a Dr Ruppel a few years back....she only flowered one flower for me in the three years she was in my garden (after that I dug her up)....I hope you have better luck with her - she is so pretty!
