That's the thing, gingin. This homeowner is in the 'burbs. I don't know the owner but the photo looks like a well cared for property.

Garden.org Admin

This is another reminder why I live in the country, too.

I wish they showed a photo of the particular bed in question. In reading the article, it sounds like the cardboard used was visible above ground, and the view of the cardboard prompted complaints. For the success of the bed, the cardboard should be covered completely, otherwise the paper will wick moisture from the bed into the air. Once the cardboard is entirely covered, the busy-body neighbors and gov't officials won't even know that cardboard is under the bed. Problem solved. Thumbs up

I guess she's lucky that her "code violation" of cardboard showing didn't result in a SWAT Team holding her @ gunpoint.

Texas Police Hit Organic Farm With Massive SWAT Raid

"...The police seized "17 blackberry bushes, 15 okra plants, 14 tomatillo plants ... native grasses and sunflowers," after holding residents inside at gunpoint for at least a half-hour, property owner Shellie Smith said in a statement. The raid lasted about 10 hours, she said..."

It's a bit unnerving. We have a lot of low flying helicopters flying by each day and I always smile and think, I wonder if they think I'm growing something I shouldn't be. I always wave! Hilarious!

The leaves resemble marijuana. There have been stories of police raids because of the mistaken identity.

"...At one point, the officers discussed whether the bamboo in the window might be the demon weed as well, Davis told the Houston Chronicle. They also asked him what he planned to do with the watermelons and cantaloupes growing out back.

"What would I do with them?" Davis said he responded....

Davis thinks the narcotics officers might need a little more training.

"If they don't know what a marijuana plant looks like, maybe they should bring a picture with them," he told the TV station, "before they invade a citizen's home...."

o.m.g. - What do you plan to do with with the watermelons and cantaloupes growing out back???????

In that county, growing cantaloupes must be a first-degree melony.
