Thread OP

Hi-

I'm looking to buy a tiller. Can anyone out there recommend one? I want a decent sized one and was looking at the new mantis one. Suggestions?

As I said in the other Mantis thread, I'm very happy with mine, but can't speak to any other tillers

As I wrote in other thread (which has been moved to the question forum)

I have never tried the mantis tiller but I haven't really seen them around here; I haven't looked for them.

I have the small Troy-Bilt 4 cycle tiller (29cc maybe) and it does what I need it to. I did have a bigger one, Huskee 190cc but it took two people to pick it up and put in the beds. I tried the Troy-Bilt 2 cycle tiller but it quit working after 10 minutes and I took it back.

I have an older Mantis and it works fairly well in some areas but I don't think it lives up to it's advertising. It's small and light weight which is fine for breaking up chunky soil tilled by larger machines but it won't chew through grass as advertised, unless you have all day to do a 10' square area. The biggest problem I found is that in hard soil it bounces which can be very dangerous. I don't know anything about the new one though.
