I am currently working on updating My List. As I go through and make changes, each time I save, I then end up at the top of the list again. Would it be feasible to have a search box within the Managing My List screen that would quickly take me where I left off, or specifically to a plant I know I have?

Someone answered this in a mail for me, but I can't recall who right now.

In your list area, right click on the entry you're working on and choose "open in new window". When you're finished with it, close the window and you'll be right back to where you left off.

(I think. It's been a while since I did any updates *Blush* )

I personally use chelle's approach. The middle button on my mouse (the wheel, actually) when pressed on a link will cause the link to open in a new tab. Then I switch to that tab, do my thing, and then close the tab and I'm back where I was.

Also, if the plant you want is on the page you're viewing, hit Ctrl-F on your keyboard to open an in-browser search that will search your page.

I also use several open windows at the same time, either in different "Tabs" of my browser, or entire separate windows (separate instances of the browser).

For me, the "open in new tab" is "CTRL-Click".

Also, set this to "Yes" in your ATP Profile:
| Change Your Site Preferences
| "Open external links in a new window?"

(But that might not make internal ATP links always open a new window or new tab.)

And if I leave where-I-wanted-to-be by accident, I'll use my browser's Back arrow to get to the right place.

I have tried those, and now understand navigating a bit better. But, what I'm having problems with is I will be working on, for example, a Papaver entry on my list. I edit the list entry itself, then save the changes, and bam - I'm back at the start of the list. I guess if I keep track of which page I'm actually working on, that would be a way to get back to the poppies, but still involves choosing the page and then scrolling where I left off. Or am I still missing something?

I'm also a bit confused about the internal search -- is my list all one page and searchable with an F5, or must I know what specific page the poppies are on to get back where I left off.

What I'm doing, which is rather labor intensive, is matching up my personal plant database to the list feature here, cross posting missing information and double checking name/zone etc. It's probably better suited for a winter project, but I'm also trying to get out and snap photos of ones I am missing.

Thanks.

Deb,

I just changed an entry on page 5 of my list, and these are the steps I used:

In my list I found the one I wanted (it was on page 5)
Then I right clicked on the edit icon for that entry
In the box that came up I chose open in new window
I made my changes
Clicked save changes
Closed that window

...and once the window closed I was right back on page 5.

Does this help?

YES, thanks so much. Computereze does not always come easily to me, but once I'm walked through it, I can usually catch on. And now I have all these windows I can work with (in addition to two screens). I really could run amuck here...

It goes MUCH faster when everything has its own Tab, and stays open until I close it.

I love having two display monitors at work. Then I open two separate sessions or my browser, one on each monitor, and can see almost everything at the same time.

Well, okay.

I remember when we first got internet access in my department I only let the artists have access on one machine so I could monitor who was using it. (They were only supposed to use it to download electronic ads coming in - newspaper marketing art dept.) When I found out all the other Sales Assistants were online all day I let everyone have internet and I never monitored it again.

When I worked in-office, I often had to answer the phone because our 'receptionist' was on-line making airline reservations for her vacation or talking with her sister long distance. Drove me nuts. I decided to work freelance and never looked back.
