What are the pros and cons of adding the ability to comment on one of the Informative articles on a parent plant page?

I'm also interested.

>> What are the pros and cons

One "pro" might be that someone who would not have added an article themselves might still be tempted to reply to an article with a comment - for example, correcting some mistake or mentioning an alternative method.

One "con" is that anyone who wants to make a comment could already just add a short "article" instead. Except for the "threading" aspect, what advantage does a comment have over a short article?

It will take a bit for my brain to wrap around that Rick.

Sorry, I just meant that a comment is pretty much the same as a very short article.

Do you have a link Rick to see what you are talking about?

I'm just responding to something Evan said.

Let's see if I can make screenshots.

Hmm, this is doubly confusing. First of all, we can already reply to those articles in the parent Plant pages.

Second, the "articles" are actually called "comments. So maybe I'm just totally confused about what @Evan meant in the first place!

Wow, that is way cool Evan. I didn't know we could do that. That is one informative Parent Plant entry. And how easy it makes it to find out anything you want to know about Brassica, all in one place, the Parent Plant page. Hurray!

Check out the Salvias (Salvia) Parent plant page @RickCorey. There we have both an article and a comment. It is the possibility of discussion/response to the article that I was referring.

Edited to say: I agree with @valleylynn, that is some informative comment on the Brassicas (Brassica) Parent plant page Rick.

Thank you, I see it.

Isn't that kind of reply to an article exactly what you were asking for in the first post in this thread?

Some Parent plants have multiple informative articles @RickCorey. Irises (Iris) is one I frequently refer to. I'm wondering how people feel about the ability to Reply to an informative article in the same way we can with a comment.

Oh, I see! When there are multiple articles, as in the Iris PPP,* the "Reply" button is not present. Those are nice, substantive articles! I think it would be great if each one had weighty threads dangling from it.

That's odd. I thought that @Dave tended to make everything work the same way, everywhere.

After seeing the Iris Parent Plant Entry, I understand more of what you are talking about Evan.
Great and informative information, but can comment on them.
