I have the Scutellaria integrifolia identified on a very good site of plants from my region.
http://www.namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1344

These pictures look very different from the images posted in the ATP database.
Helmet Skullcap (Scutellaria integrifolia)

One of the pictures in that listing is of a toadflax!

Google images show my plant...

Thanks.

In a case like this one, it's probably best to contact the two people who contributed the photos, @Marilyn and @Plantladylin, and ask them whether they might have misidentified the plant.

I was in Southern California on vacation last week and just finding time to get online since getting home late Saturday night.

Zuzu: Confused I see my name highlighted in your above post but I didn't receive any message or anything to bring me to this thread. I'm just catching up on ATP and just clicked on the forum to see if there was anything new and saw this thread.

Sue: Thanks so much for moving my photo to the correct entry!

Sorry, Lin. I think I know what I did wrong. I initially advised Stone to contact you and Marilyn by tree-mail. Then I realized that I could have tagged you instead, so I edited my post. I don't think messages are sent out when a post is edited.

You're welcome Lin.
That's good to know that it won't work that way Zuzu.
Lets see if we can summon @Marilyn and get this cleared up. Green Grin!

stone: Thank you for catching these database photo error's; I'm sure Marilyn will move her photo's to the correct location once she is contacted ... and I hope you will consider uploading a few pictures of your plant to that entry.

My plant tag states it's Helmet flower (Scutellaria integrifolia) and I feel it is.

If you check the links in the first post Marilyn, the leaves are totally different for the S. integrifolia so it is most likely mislabeled.

I do not have any toadflax.

I removed my pics, even though the leaves may not be the same, they look like Helmet Skullcap flowers and I love to see them blooming every year! Smiling

plantladylin had the toadflax and that was already moved to the correct entry.

We have pages of different Scutellaria so the species is different than the S. integrifolia but yes, yours is still commonly known as a Helmet Skullcap, thus the flowers will looking very similar, if not almost the same.

I'll have to check into the different Scutellaria varieties and try to match my leaves up with the correct one. Thumbs up
