Stunning. I've not seen pics of this one before. How long have you had it? Is there one plant or two? and what's with that name...too funny.

Thank you; Evan Lin Sandi Dave! Evan, I had the plant in a pot originally. it is a crawler in lieu of a climber. The plant was as long out of the pot as it was in it, so, I just planted it in the ground last Fall and it has 2 sprouts now shown. The stem is on the ground between the two plants. It is about 2.5'' in DIa. Looks like every year I should at least obtain this amount of growth. Pictures don't do the slightly iridescent Emerald Green leaves justice.

Wow, that is wonderful if you can grow that Philo in-ground in the winter in N.C.

I'm thinkin several philos are more hardy than described, I've heard reports of P. hope being root hardy in zone 5 with no protection...
I'm hoping to find a few large enough to try it with for next year, the cheapest good sized ones I can find ate $72...forget that!
I'm not sure the $7 wellspring plug will get big enough to pull thru...
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

Drew, is that one related to your P. McDowell ( ? or something ? ) that I have always liked so much. It is just stunning.

Maybe you should take one of the sprouts indoors and display it in a pot each winter as insurance - to make sure not to lose it if there is an extra-cold spell in winter? If it's the same one I am recalling, it looked magnificent in the pot before it started crawling out, too. You had it on a table in front of a small window . . . ?

If I had it, I'd keep one part in a pot, and bring it in for a house plant, it's so pretty.

Was thinking about it already Elaine, but I have soooo many plants to bring in this year! Again! Learned that it is not McDowell as I thought; but, Pastazanum!

In my renewed search for P. pastazanum, I cruised Brian's Botanicals, Plant Delights and Zone 9 Tropicals with no luck. Plant Delights does have 'Hope' however. Just thought I'd let you know, Evan.

Drew, where the heck did you get that guy?? Rolling my eyes.

Mm, nope I think he's had it longer than that. I've been admiring his pictures of that one for a couple of years over on the other forum.

Wasn't it just last summer he went to the IAS show?

My guess is NSE Tropicals, although they don't have it now.
