After the utility company replaced a power pole, this plant showed up. Which Evening Primrose is this? Also please, are all Oenothera varieties biennial? It would be nice to have a more proper name to go with the seeds which were saved.

This is the plant in April: Thumb of 2013-08-20/greene/3a5c1f

And in June: Thumb of 2013-08-20/greene/c95d3e Thumb of 2013-08-20/greene/475e35

It's either Oenothera biennis or Oenothera villosa, probably O. biennis but they are hard to tell apart without a good look at the leaves.

Also, most species of Oenothera are perennials.

My first thought was Oenothera biennis too: Common Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis) just because that's the one I'm familiar with down this way.

Okay, I'm good with the Common Evening Primrose. Thanks everyone!
