The Runaway Balls

By Bubbles
April 15, 2010

My husband surprised me one day with two large stone balls for the front garden. He had to have two men help him place them. I just loved them peeking out of the salvias near the sidewalk. Our neighbors would walk up the hill and take a rest, letting their kids sit on top of the balls. This is a story of how the balls wound up hidden in our backyard.

Oh, Sandi - That is sooo funny. Maybe not at the time, but certainly now. Good story, and you told it so well. You should submit it to a publisher.

I just found this today too. What a great story and entertainingly well-written. Love the landscape setting for the (hopefully) final resting place of the giant balls. Is that a trap lying on the pathway in front of them, or my imagination???

Thanks for giving us a fun tale! I bet this one will stay in the annals of family history for a long time, perhaps in the local PD and FD circuit as well!

Well, thanks for reading it! And yes, it's an animal trap...just for photo op, tho. At the time, our neighbors were stopping by and asking why we got rid of the balls. We'd take them into the backyard and show them we still had them....and they weren't going anywhere again. I found the trap (among others) in a box of stuff I inherited from an aunt who collected antiques....and stuff... Was appropriate at the time...but not there anymore.

Hope you'll stop back soon. I'm going to write a little story about bedeviling my SIL soon.....

The trap was a wonderful photo op touch! Hilarious! I found the article by searching for something completely unrelated, and will be watching for further offerings, for sure.

That is such a good story about karma. It is interesting how sometimes we get to watch it come full circle like that.

I really like those stone balls too!

Thanks mamajack and wildflowers. I really wanted to add more photos of the "incident," but the kid was in them and I thought I shouldn't expose him for life for one small lapse of judgement.....especially since he'd already paid for it with his Camaro.....
