I agree with Jo Ann that your gardens are neat and clean. I am impressed by how well organized your garden areas are. Have a joy filled day!

Thank you Sharon Rose. I hate to admit that I have areas that need weeding very badly..I am going to take out some gardens before next spring. Just too much work and it gets hot so early in the season..I just have to give in and let Mr. W have more grass to mow. Maybe I will be more able to keep up then!

Veronica--You have such Happy Happy lilium! Your daylilies are not shabby either. I understand about what it takes to keep a garden and you are a good gardener. I am sorry to hear you will be downsizing. Maybe it will make the flowers you keep bloom that much better. I think flowers have ears. What I may have to go? I think I will bloom now and put out some beautiful ones. Hilarious! Joy and many blessings to you!

Not to worry Sharon Rose.. None of these guys are going anywhere.. The plan is to divide day lilies and others that I can't be without so that I have more room in the beds I plan to keep. I am very good at finding room for " just one more plant".

Veronica--I understand that room for one more plant. I live with my daughter and do her gardening. Every year we say this is it for new plants this year. I only think that means we will put in about 20 more every year! Hilarious! That does not count the mail orders for fall! I think now we will have to start rating garden performance. But if those plants catch on I am in trouble. Everytime we have a discussion about a plants performance, it goes and proves us wrong. Do you think reverse psychology will work on them? I will go out and tell them all you are going. I could have my best year yet! Hilarious!

Veronica--For weeds. It supposedly stops seeds from sprouting. Which would be weed control. Unfortunately it also stops flower seeds from sprouting. It's other up side is it acts like fertilizer. I just thought I would ask. I am originally from the Midwest, and did not know if was prevalent there. I figured if it was as good as they say Midwesterners would know corn products for gardens. Weeds grow here year round and I would like if I could find a natural way to stop them. Did not know if it sounds too good to be true? Thank you! May God bless you and your family!

It seems there is nothing to stop weeds here in Indiana! I pull and spread Preen and pull some. And yes Preen kills flower seeds along with the weeds. I will check and see if it contains corn. That is interesting.

The product is called corn gluten meal. It is a byproduct of processing corn used to feed animals.
I have tried it with some success. I would say cut my weeds in half in the raised beds where I grow tomatoes , peppers squash .

Cinda--Did you use plain corn gluten meal from a feed store or the treated one from Iowa State? How often did you have to apply it?
I have crazy weeds they never stop growing. Could you expand on some success. There is weed desperation here. The better I make the soil the more weeds I have. I understand the soil will not sprout seeds. I can collect flower seeds and start them myself. Any help is a blessing!
May the week be joyful!

This very early blooming day lily is looking good. It is way ahead of the Happy Returns. Someone on here sent it to me but I have forgotten the name of both the p.ant and the donor.
Did away with 2 large beds this spring and last fall shovel pruned lots of plants..so we will see how it goes..
