They are very beautiful. I planted some of these giants this year…I'm not sure what kind of 'borer' beetle it was, but they were attacked like I've never seen anything attacked before!
They were black in color, and I wish I had gotten a picture of them. As the heads were maturing, these little rascals dove in head first. They sure did get a good meal, but I was able to salvage some. Had to pull them out with tweezers! Grumbling I've grown Sunflowers every year, but these were the 1st Giants I'd grown…Never had a problem with the other varieties.
