I saw this at the Oregon Garden in Silverton, OR.
Grown in the water garden area, in a somewhat boggy area.

It is a Canna, but without flowers present I can't say what species it may be.

I think that is Thalia dealbata.

I'm going with Thalia dealbata too, and our database could use photo's as there are currently none there!

That is it. It doesn't open into the big impressive blooms that the hybrids do. But oh so interesting when you come upon it in a garden.

One of the local Botanical Gardens uses them in demonstration ponds, to show how plants can be used to purify water.

That is where I took the photos in my above post. It is a water treatment area in the Oregon Garden. They partner up with the city of Silverton on treating the cities waste water. It has been a great success.

Wow…That is exciting! I wasn't familiar with that! Hadn't heard of it! Learning something new every day!!! Love that!
