I was very surprised to see a hummer this morning, they should be headed south by now, it may be because of the lovey weather we have been enjoying, I'm sure not complaining.
I took these photos Sept. 2nd., I was photographing a butterfly and suddenly there was this beautiful hummer. I haven't been able to post as my office was getting a much needed paint job.

Thank you Tara and Ronnie. I didn't mean to post the hummer photos on this thread, I did it late evening when I was tired, discovered my mistake the next day but decided to leave them here.
That is a cool moth, looks like it's carved out of wood.
Love those Tersas; they scare the crap out of me when I'm weeding the pentas and see those giant eyespots on the caterpillars! As a moth I think they look like stealth bombers. Very sleek.
Here's a Zebra Longwing that was flitting around the porterweed this afternoon.
And a Monarch caterpillar that was off the milkweed and on the nearby bromeliads. He might be done eating and in his wandering phase but I put him back where there were some leaves on the milkweed just in case.
Kewl Tara. with Melanie, the Tersas always remind us of Stealth Bombers. The dh & I refer to them as the Stealth moths.
I love that photo of the long wing on the porterweed.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
Giant Swallowtail I raised...there were two of them emerged and released in the last couple of days.
This Pipevine Swallowtail came by the other day and after going to the flowers, it evidently found another source of nectar also appealing.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Ooohhh, Wonderful pictures, everyone!
Lin, I think all the Gulf Frits are up here this year! We've been overrun with them, and I've had a bumper crop of cats!
