I spent the whole entire weekend in the yard. And I get Monday, too! Hurray! A weekend in the yard is probably nothing to most but a few things here, I work full time and I have been caring for my husband (who has beaten cancer!) which some of you may have read about . I missed the entire spring season but would not have chosen to be anywhere except with my husband in the hospital. He came home mid June.

Mid summer I started shaping up the lawn again. Then slowly but surely I tended to some of the beds.

This weekend, I got down and dirty laying sod and topsoil, repotting, potting up plant starts, trimming trees, hedging and reshaping bushes and deep-watering. I mowed, edge and blew not only my yard but the neighbor's yard, too. There is still a lot to do but I feel like a new woman but I probably looked like something dragged out of the bayou! I was dirty, sweaty, wet, and hot. The bandana, dark glasses, and mask I wore made me look like a Ninja Warrior. Rolling on the floor laughing That hot shower never, EVER felt so good! Wow! It was a great day! It's good to be back Hurray! !!

Yes, Sharon, it DOES feel good! I always knew my gardens are a big part of my life. I am so happy to be back. I don't even mind the heat...much. I loved learning that our yard could go on without me, looking lush and inviting. But maybe a little bit too lush? Hahahahaaa I do feel much better about being a part of my yard, making things happen, playing in the dirt, tidying things up, making things pretty. Gardening is a healthy lifestyle!

For me there is nothing like yard work to put me right again when I'm feeling off.

Hurray for you, Cheryl! I am so happy DH is doing so well and that you got that time in the yard. It does make a difference in how we feel, and I think that is why most of us with gardens have them in the first place. Lovey dubby

I started my Monday with a waffle and ibuprofen. I am sore. But one sure way to get the kinks out is to get out there and do it again! I am in for a cool down break. I'll be back at it in a few...
