Just one baby that came here two months ago. It is just a tiny offset (2) of them. Already it is showing great color and starting into a change of colors.

Here's the latest from my friend in Devon:

Kate I spoke at length to Ray of Sunray Plants,( or should I say he spoke about the plants) he and Sue grow. The Supervivums are their passion i would say and he said she is the person to talk to on 0044 1626 873776. He said she would send you a disc of the plants they have and he said they deal with people in Germany also they go to shows to sell, in Uk I presume. I don't think they have credit card facilities and when I said I could pay for what you wanted he said "I'm sure it will be alright as they deal with German customers" I don't know what that means but if you wanted me to pay them then that's fine of course. I tried to repeatedly tell him that Vermont is in America not Canada, not sure if he got it but he did say that you could phone them this evening and your time is 5 hours behind yours. They do not email or have a web site so good luck with your call, he was charming on the phone and fascinated when I said you had read about them on an Internet forum.

Lynn,

My 'Purple Dazzler' is a year older and has made a nice clump. It seems to keep its color pretty well and is developing into a larger rosette. It is definitely more red-purple. I would love to try crosses with it and some of things I'm getting from 'Jungle Shadows' and 'Killer'. Think there could be some fabulous combos.

Yes, I agree Kevin. It could be a wonderful seed or pollen parent. I hope mine doesn't bloom until it multiplies. Wonder what it would do crossed with Oddity?
Know to see if Oddity will bloom again next year? I have left this clump to grow as it wants for several years, I think that is why it finally bloomed. Still leaving it as is. Sure is taking up real estate though. Rolling my eyes.

Kate that is amazing news. Group hug

Peter, let us know what comes of the phone contact. How exciting. Hurray!

Somewhat OT, but related: My oddity has never reverted to flat leaves, but the colony has always been at the same place which is only bright indirect light. I pulled a few in early summer for transplanting and had three that didn't get planted and remained sitting on my planting table drying out for more than a month. I discovered them and planted them about a month ago. The pot has been if full sun since planting. I noticed today, when checking plants, that one of the three has reverted it's leaves to normal. So just speculating that either the transplanting or change of lighting may have had some bearing on leaf reversion. Lynn, are yours located in full sun?

Full sun and in the same spot for several years. I have had two normal offsets from it a couple of years ago, but they started out normal, not odd and then reverting.
This blooming rosette never totally reverted, the backs of the leaves had a fold with the edges touching at the back of the leaf.

Peter, if you print this out and mail/post it to them at this address, maybe we could get a response without running up any enormous telephone charges (and more quickly than if one of us in the US mailed/posted it).

UKHow's this:

Sue and Ray,

My English musician-friend, Gareth Hedges, spoke with Ray last Friday regarding an internet forum in the United States that is specifically interested in Sempervivum, Jovibarbas, and allied plants. The specific thread we've been talking about you on is :

The thread "Peter Dieckmann "Discuss what is going on in Europe"" in Sempervivum forum

One of our international members, Peter Dieckman, has your disc and would like your permission to post some of your photos (with credit to you, of course) on the websites' database. Is that all right with you? We would never use your photos without your permission. These photos are for reference only.

Many of our members are interested in your breeding program and would love to hear from you about it. If you have any online capabilities, do please look at this referenced thread.

Enormous regards from the Sempervivum and Jovibarba Forum, ta, Kate Kennedy Butler

I don't understand that word Crying

"Alster" is a river in Hamburg/Germany and "Fackel" means torch (like the Olympic torch);

Hi Peter, I figured it meant something...I like the meaning!! Well, I just looked it up and I misspelled it haha - its gibberish, and it means foolish or meaningless words! I tip my hat to you. ( for me I think of gibberish in a humorous way)
Cheers and love that semp! Hurray! Hurray!

Yeah, Peter I love your new avatar. Hurray! Hurray!

And Greg, sometimes when we do google translate for the German names, they can come out way off the mark. Blinking
Peter I like that English translation. Now I have to go look at the semp again to see the torch part of the name. Smiling
