Thanks Natalie and Hemlady. I am just a sucker for whites. I also have Jolie Blonde and Fuchsia Kiss coming from Snickerspooh thru the co-op. I couldn't pass them up at this price. My name is Mike and I am an "ADDICT". Rolling on the floor laughing

My name is Gerry and I am an "ADDICT" like Mike and many others on this site.

Yesterday I received a shipment from Bill and Marilyn of 165 double fans, which all will be planted before the end of October. I am not going to divide them at this late in the season time.

These are from the list of cultivars that will no longer be in their catalog. I received 55 cultivars, and I already have only 10 on the list. I will post the list when I have time. Maybe I will ask a student to do that for me.

Is it possible to upload a document? If so, how?

Later this week, the final shipment will arrive, and all of those will be potted and wintered in the greenhouse.

Gerry

It so nice to have students to help out. Drooling
That's the easiest way to copy. The other is if you know the file location you can click on "upload an image" down below in green highlight, then navigate to the folder with the document or picture and double click it. MAKE SURE YOU PREVIEW IT FIRST BEFORE YOU HIT "FINISHED". We don't want you posting anything you don't want us to see without REGRET, Profesora! Rolling on the floor laughing

Gerry, I usually scan the document and upload it to the computer. Then just like a picture you just go to the file where it was uploaded to and open it. If you would like to post it here just pretend it is a picture. Go to the file and click on the document and it should load just like a picture would.

Got three boxes today. One from Junemark on the LA. purchased Humble Heart and got Discarded Beauty for a unexpected bonus. Extra fans on HH also.

Did a trade with a GREAT lady in NJ, name Mary Burgent aka morning_star on the LA. She has a few registered daylily of her own.

I had some planting to do today too. This is the latest I have ever planted but the weather is supposed to be in the 70's for the next week with some rain on the weekend.

Got Happy, Happy, and 2 bonus plants, Buddy's Betsy and Buddy's Victoria Jade from Mijomo on LA.

I also had 2 seedlings still growing in a pot. They were Filled to Overflowing x Katie My Love.

I too have never gone this late planting daylilies, but the weather has been nice and I am taking advantage of it. I am potting everything up and will be plunking them into my veggie garden. Unfortunately I have no more room in my beds. I got my last order of the season today. Not a seller on the LA this time but, from a seller here (Snickerspooh). I am extremely happy with the plants! Numerous fans, nice extras, and all of them in great shape. I wish I had taken a picture. I will be keeping an eye out for her sales again in the future for sure:) Happy planting!

Cindy I planted Happy Happy about this late last year. It seemed to survive no problem but did not recover as quickly. Granted, I didn't mulch it or baby it at all so you might think about that for yours.

I need advice from zone 5 gardeners.

I am planting a large order (165 double fans), and I plan to mulch heavily with straw. Should I first use a wood chip mulch with the straw on top?

I have never mulched daylilies before and some have not recovered well.

Thanks,

Gerry

I can't help you with the straw, I have never used that but I do use a wood chip mulch.

I don't see the benefit of both. Personally, I would do one or the other. Straw is likely easier, less expensive and could be easier to remove in the spring if you need to.

I only grow a few DL but read these threads. If you can get them i wold use pine needles/pine straw as mulch. I used it on some Japanese Iris that came a little late.
