Another common name for Cleome is "Cat's Whiskers." They reseed like wild. You'll have 100s of them if that's what you want. I used to take flowers to my job several times per year. A lady took home some immature cleome and her husband, a sheriff's deputy, asked how well she knew me, because the plants looked like marijuana. I should be paroled soon if I don't mess up.
While I'm here, I am so envious of Fred's seedlings. They look great right now, and will be super blooms next spring, like always! I have just planted all of the diploid seeds that I am going to plant (miniatures, small, Spider/UFs, patterned, doubles- do we need some foucs?), all of my tet toothy crosses, but still have way too many other tets to get in the ground. My goal when I get home today is to relocate some "keeper" seedlings to create room for my "better" tet crosses. I promise that NEXT YEAR I will be more disciplined in making crosses because it's that same thing every year- way too many seeds to plant in the space reserved for seedlings. A couple of people in our local club said they'd take some seeds, but I'll have 100s that I don't have room to plant. Now, if anyone on this forum wanted some seeds for the price of postage... please send Doris a Tree mail. I can usually give away seedlings, but have never tried to give away seeds. I won't put them on the LA.
